Winter Intimate Wedding Photography in Cotswolds | Becky and Josh

In the heart of the picturesque Cotswolds, Lygon Arms in Broadway is a venue that feels like stepping back in time while still embracing modern comfort. I remember wandering through this charming village a couple of years ago, completely amazed by its honey-coloured buildings and winding streets. Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine that I’d be back here one day, not as a visitor, but as a photographer capturing the love story of a wonderful couple. Becky and Josh’s intimate winter wedding perfectly matched this setting—full of warmth, elegance, and the quiet magic that only the Cotswolds can offer. The characterful interiors, the cosy ambience, and the stunning scenery all came together to create an unforgettable day.

Wedding Preparations

Winter weddings always have a special kind of charm, and Becky and Josh’s intimate wedding in the Cotswolds couldn’t have been blessed with a more beautiful, crisp, sunny day. Becky got ready in a gorgeous, character-filled hotel room, surrounded by her mum and her wonderful friend. They chatted, laughed, cried and helped her with her makeup before she stepped into her stunning, elegant wedding dress. One of the most emotional moments was when Becky had a first look with her dad—his reaction was so full of love and pride that it was impossible not to get a little teary behind the camera. My favourite moment, though, was when the soft winter light streamed through the window just as Becky was getting ready, wrapping her in the most magical morning glow.

Meanwhile, just around the corner, Josh was getting ready with his groomsmen. As they strolled outside, I captured those candid moments—laughter, buttonholes being adjusted, and the camaraderie between them. Photographing both sides of the morning is always so special, witnessing the build-up from two perspectives. The frost outside added to the calm, as everyone seemed quietly waiting for the day to start.

Wedding Ceremony

The bride and groom had a small, heartfelt ceremony with their closest family and friends. It took place in one of Lygon Arms’ charming rooms, warm and inviting with candlelight flickering and the scent of winter flowers in the air. Becky looked beautiful in her long-sleeve dress, perfect for the season, while Josh looked sharp in a velvet tuxedo. The beautiful ceremony and heartfelt readings had both mums in tears, which was so touching to witness. And having Becky’s 100-year-old grandma there made the day even more special.

Cotswolds Intimate Wedding Photography Portraits

After the ceremony, Becky and Josh stepped outside, where their closest family and friends had lined up, ready with handfuls of confetti. As they walked through, laughter filled the air, and the petals fell softly around them—such a happy, joyful moment to capture. With confetti still in Becky’s hair, we wandered through the hotel’s courtyard before heading into Broadway’s cobbled streets. The warm stone buildings and soft winter light made a beautiful setting as they held hands and took it all in. It was a lovely chance for them to pause and enjoy a quiet moment together, and the photos really show just how much they mean to each other.

Wedding Breakfast, Speeches and Cake Cutting

The evening’s celebrations took place in an intimate setting at Lygon Arms, where guests enjoyed a cozy meal with seasonal dishes. With winter’s early sunset, it was the perfect time for the wedding breakfast, with a Christmas tree in the corner adding to the festive charm. The toasts were heartfelt, the laughter abundant, and the love in the room undeniable. After the meal, we stepped outside for a few portraits under the beautiful Broadway Christmas lights. Emotional speeches, cake cutting, and plenty of joy followed, with everyone surrounded by the warmth of their loved ones. By the time I headed home, my heart was full, and I couldn’t help but feel excited for Christmas.

Becky and Josh’s winter wedding at Lygon Arms was truly unforgettable. With a stunning venue, perfect weather, and their love shining through, it was a day that’ll stick with me. It was such an honour to capture their story and be part of their beautiful winter wedding in a charming Cotswolds village.
